Assessment

The summative/quantitative assessment for this course will assign you points on a scale of 0-100.

1.
20 points will be based on a 1 hour open-book examination to be held in Vislab in weeks 13 and 14 of the semester.

This assessment will require that you present a solution of a simple problem, to confirm that you have individually mastered the basic techniques of scientific computing. The problem will be similar to one presented and solved in the course.

2.
40 points will be based on your demonstration of competence in 8 specified areas you select from those mentioned below.

If you demonstrate mastery of one of these competencies at a basic level you will receive 4 points. You will have two opportunities to revise and re-present your evidence of competency at an advanced level, to gain an extra point (Each competency gains a maximum of 5 points).

To seek these points you should submit a 1-2 page report (including program listings), graphical material and so forth, as appropriate (in paper or screen-based form), at any time during the course. This submission will be evaluated and you will be told of the outcome. You must retain the final submission until the end of the semester.

3.
40 points will be based on your project report
