Valence Band, Conduction Band

 








The highest energy band 
that is occupied by one or 
more electrons is called the 
valence band.



The next higher vacant level is called the 
conduction band.



Conduction band and 
valence band are 
separated by a gap which 
represent a set of energies that electrons cannot have.
