The Morse Code

Morse decided to use two kinds of electrical pulses:

  • one short: the "dot"

  • one long: the "dash"
  •

By combining dots and dashes, it was possible to represent letters of the alphabet and numbers.

Morse gave the shortest codes to the most frequently used letters in English: messages could be kept to a minimum!
