With the creation of radio stations, radio became one of the most important means of mass communication competing with newspapers.
After transmitting sound, scientists started to think about transmitting images which led to television.
The first televisions were developped
during the 1920s and perfected in the
1930s.
The first "successful" colour television was
invented in 1953.
Of all the communication-related inventions, none has so much impact as television.
Television is also the most "passive" communication device. Unlike the telegraph, the telephone or the radio, it only allows one-way communications (unless you can afford a TV station!)
